If you haven’t read The Widow of the South….. do so immediately (before someone makes a movie and massacres the story). The book is an excellent “historical fiction.” Many of the characters in the story are based on real people or composites of real people. The story takes place in Franklin, TN on the Carnton Plantation. I grew up not far from here and lived even closer in recent years. Being a history buff, we visited on a recent trip down South.
