Today I ran in Nike’s new virtual event, the Nike+ Human Race 10-K. The premise is simple. Run in an organized 10-K, run with an informal group, or run solo. Just run 10-K or more on 31 Aug 2008 and record your run with the Nike+ chip system. The chips retain data for up to one month and transmits to your Nike+ account every time you connect the usb dongle to your computer. As of 10 PM today, 2,885,000 miles have been submitted for the inaugural event. Participants have a couple more days to plug there chips in and some may still be awaiting their run given the lagging time zones out West.
My normal training run would have been easily over 10-K today anyway so it really wasn’t any extra effort on my part. That not withstanding, we still decided to commemorate the event with a trip to the Dairy King. Yep, the King. Some folks have only Queens (pun intended), but we have a King. The Dairy King is a small walk-up ice cream store/stand in Linwood, PA (walking distance from the house). We both exercised a mighty show of manly restraint by ordering the small options
