It’s now only 3 weeks until the Philly Distance Run! We got our confirmation letters today. I’m in corral 7 and George is in 12. I can’t remember the exact criteria, but that seems like the same differential as last year. I try to be fair and honest (there is a difference) on the seeding questions, but I’ll bet 2-3,000 of the people in front of me were either overly optimistic with their projected pace or economical with the truth regarding their fastest finish in the last 3 years. Their “reality” + my reality put me in corral 7; so be it!
I’m been battling irritating allergies and food reactions lately so my distances have been on the short side & seemed more work than they should have. Tonight I seemed to turn the corner. I didn’t have a long run, but the miles slipped by easily and I almost got in the zone. I could tell I was on the edge because I usually feel slightly light-headed just before. Alas, the speeches were about the start and I didn’t want to miss Teddy, so I wrapped it up and put a bow on it for another night.
In case anyone reading this hasn’t actually met me (if you have, you already know this), I am an unabashed supporter (from the beginning) of Barack Obama. I love Hillary Clinton as well and have an ever deepening respect for the work she has/is/will continue to do. However, I made my decision early and I apologize to no one for it. I’m completely pleased in every way with the choice of Joe Biden (a long time hero) as his running mate. Joe has a nack for saying what is on his mind even if it sometimes comes out in less than perfect light; we share this trait & true friends know what I mean.
That being said, this is the time and the only real opportunity to put this thing we call a party into shape. It’s time to stop acting like the Democratic Party has, traditionally. Inter-party debating is over. The platform is set. Things are not perfect, but they ARE as they WILL BE for this election. To be clear, the dye is caste. Democrats historically win battles and claim the high ground while Republicans pick their battles and win the war. Strategy is something we can and must learn in order to win this election.

Fun was had by all. Even the poor unhappy souls with Repulse America seemed to brighten up & become quite animated just seeing the happiness and joy in our faces. That’s what we do; we’re a happy people on a mission of love
